Use the law

I entirely agree with Matt Phillips of BPI (12 Oct 2008) about a multi-pronged approach to illegal P2P file sharing and other wholesale rip offs of music creators, artists and bona fide investors in the legitimate music/film industry. Thanks to him I discovered that I’m not the only voice in the wilderness.

Recently, I read with dismay that some young whipper-snapper said that songwriters must accept that they have no “right” to expect to earn money from their musical creations. Well, hello world, the nutters seem to be running the asylum and we need to regain control, not by one way or other but from a concerted effort from all quarters.

Have any record labels thought of getting together with others to launch a new music/film ISP for the protection of creators and legit investors? Could future releases be exclusively delivered or distributed through these facilities and make it easier to track the illegal file sharers and punish them?

If I get caught stealing anything from a shop do I get 2 more free goes before I get nicked? I do not, so why should anyone else?
We have the technology to detect the offenders, so why not use it? Why is it one law for the thieves and another for the music creators who keep the entire industry in work?
