Oxjam Festival Manager (Voluntary Role)
Salary: £Not applicable

This time next year, you’ll remember reading this advert and how it was the start of the a truly amazing 2018. This marks the start of Oxjam18; where you organise an amazing grass-roots music festival that helps overcome poverty. Sound too good to be true? Read on…
Oxjam is a music festival like no other – it is the UK’s largest grass-roots music festival. Not only does it help unearth musical gems including Everything Everything, Foals and Declan McKenna; who are all Oxjam Festival alumni, but it also raises £thousands for Oxfam to help overcome poverty and suffering all over the world.
As an Oxjam Music Festival Manager in your town you will organise an incredible multi-venue, grass-roots music event in October. Between now and then, you will liaise with venues and artists, recruit and manage a team of dedicated volunteers, organise a series of pre-Festival events to raise funds and awareness of your festival. The most successful Oxjam Festivals truly embrace their local community; getting local businesses involved with sponsorship and volunteering packages, providing experience building opportunities for local students and seeking ways to work with local authorities.
This isn’t a small task, but whilst it’d help to have event and volunteer management experience they aren’t essential. What is essential is vision, great communication skills and most importantly, the drive, determination and tenacity to see you through some of the bumps in the road that all event organisers face. Don’t worry! You won’t face these bumps alone; we’ll provide you with great training and you’ll be supported every step of the way by the central Oxjam team and a Regional Engagement Manager.
Just so you know; we only have one Festival per town/London Borough, which means we’ll only recruit one Festival Manager in each town. We try to do this on a rolling basis, so whilst we’re welcoming applications until March 5th, to avoid disappointed we would highly recommend getting your application in early.
“I am very happy about raising money for a good cause and creating something that did not exist before: a great team and a beautiful, successful event” – Oxjam 2017 Festival Manager
