Since its inception in 2003, MusicTank has earned its title as the UK music business network, hosting regular think tanks which bring hot topics into sharp focus and help pinpoint the opportunities created by disruptive technologies.

Peter Jenner, the author of Beyond The Soundbytes (MusicTank's first ever report), is one of the music business' great serial offenders, with a 40 year career which encompasses putting on The Rolling Stones' legendary free concert in Hyde Park, 1969, managing artists from Pink Floyd to The Clash and Ian Dury, and more than fifteen years managing Billy Bragg's career to date . Peter remains foremost a champion of artists' rights worldwide and a prominent industry voice - he is Secretary General of the IMMF (International Music Managers Forum), and the Chairman of the ELMF (European Live Music Forum). Since he started working life as a lecturer at the LSE his analysis of the business has always been fascinating, and sometimes controversial.

In composing this first ever review of MusicTank activity, Peter has summed up of-the-moment Think Tank debates, from DRM usage to the emerging possibilities of future radio, and has also taken this opportunity to look beneath the immediate issues to unearth the fundamental and seismic changes which new technology and new consumer attitudes continue to affect within all areas of the business.
