Originally from the city of Auckland, New Zealand, Andrew been based in the UK since September 2004 and is currently Degree Leader for Music Industries at Birmingham City University, UK. He’s a senior lecturer and researcher with a particular interest in online music, radio and new media technology.

Andrew’s background is in both radio and the music industry and he’s written numerous articles, book chapters, and conference presentations about new strategies and technologies in both of these sectors.

He is co-author of a book about new technologies for broadcasters in developing nations, commissioned by UNESCO and is a member of the steering committee for the Radio Studies Network.

Since arriving in England, he’s been the project co-ordinator on a research and training project called Online Music Enterprise, funded by the European Social Fund and the Learning and Skills Council.

Andrew is currently engaged in an Arts and Humanities Research Council project in collaboration with BBC Future Media and Technology, investigating audience interaction with music radio.
