Evelyn Glennie – Artist, Writer & Educator

Evelyn Glennie is one of the world's most recognised percussionists. She gives more than 100 performances a year all over the world and has performed with many of the greatest orchestras and conductors.

She has commissioned over 135 new works for solo percussion and her recording career has won her a Grammy Award (1988) and two Grammy nominations in 2002. She was also nominated for a BAFTA for her first drama score.

To-date, Evelyn has released twenty-two recordings the most recent being Touch the Sound , (a film soundtrack), The Concerto Project Vol.1 by Philip Glass and Philadelphia Stories.

She has also written a best-selling autobiography - 'Good Vibrations' and hosted two series of her own television programs for the BBC.

A keen educator, aside from public speaking and holding regular masterclasses, she has been part of a major campaign to highlight the plight of music education in schools along side Michael Kamen, Julian Lloyd Webber and James Galway.

In 1993 Evelyn was awarded the OBE for her services to music.
