James Hannam - Senior Grants Manager at the PRS for Music Foundation

James’s career began with victory in the keyboard solo competition at his school’s Eisteddfod, giving a unique rendition of ‘Get Ready for This’ by the Dutch house duo 2 Unlimited.

He graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 2001, with a BA (Hons) 2:1 in Music. Following four years in the Cardiff voluntary sector working with refugee and community groups, James became a music educator lecturing at both the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Now Senior Grants Manager at the PRS for Music Foundation, James oversees the organisation’s popular open programmes and maintains its wide network of specialist advisors.  He has also been the project manager for partnership schemes such as Beyond Borders and China Musicians in Residence.

As an electronic music producer, James’s work has been broadcast on BBC Radio 1 by Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Mary Anne Hobbs and Zane Lowe, leading to remix commissions from DJ Shadow and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. His music has also been licensed to BBC 1 and Channel 4.
