Jim Mawdsley - Senior Project Co-ordinator, Generator North East

Established in 1991, Generator is the North’s Popular Music Development agency seeking to improve networking, training and facilities for musicians and grass roots music workers in the North of England.

This is carried out by a number of events, training programmes and schemes that include the development of venues and promoters amongst other SME’s.

For the last 2 year’s Generator has run the META scheme for the Arts Council Of England which sets out to offer a national information resource on every level of the music business. META also provides networking facilities through it’s regional receptions.

Generator is also responsible for the TRANSIT project, which seeks to improve the skills of promoters working with unsigned artists at Grass Roots level.

This year the scheme will work with 21 emerging semi professional promoters across England.

Jim Mawdsley, Senior Project Coordinator at Generator is also a promoter in his own right, operating in the North East. He has worked with many Local Authorities to produce many out door and indoor large scale festivals and dance events, using unusual spaces that provide fresh challenges for all in involved.
