Luke Fitzmaurice – Entertainments Manager, NUS Services

Luke began working in the industry following three years ‘studying’ for a law degree in Liverpool. Having got involved in Students’ Union entertainments whilst at University, Luke began his career by taking a position with Liverpool Students’ Union as Entertainments Coordinator for their 800 capacity city centre venue.

In 2001 Luke took a position as Licensee and Entertainments and Events Manager at Keele University Students’ Union where the 1800 capacity three room venue on the outskirts of Stoke on Trent provided facilities to stage events that included sell-out shows with The Darkness, Idlewild, The Thrills, Supergrass and more recently, the NME Rock ‘n’ Roll Riot Tour with Razorlight.

In his current role, Luke is responsibility for setting and implementing the national entertainment strategy for NUS Services Ltd. This provision will replace that currently supplied by NUS Ents, and involves the establishment of collaborative networks and structures to encourage Students’ Unions to work together, share resources and obtain benefits through collectivism. NUS Services is a not-for-profit consortium owned by NUS and member Students’ Unions that purchase all licensed, retail and much of the catering products sold by Students’ Unions and has a trading estate worth an estimated £150M per annum.
