Nick Ashton-Hart – Executive Director, International Music Managers Forum (IMMF)

Nick Ashton-Hart is the Executive Director of the International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), the NGO representing the interests of music managers and their clients, the featured artist community, at the global level.

He is the main representative of the organisation to multilateral institutions, where he represents the organisations positions on copyright and related rights.  The IMMF are currently active in WIPO’s (World Intellectual Property Organisation) Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights, where the negotiations for a treaty on the rights of broadcasters are underway, and an attempt to restart the process on a treaty on audiovisual rights is beginning. The IMMF is also engaged in EU processes of relevance to featured artists such as the upcoming directive on collective management of rights.

Nick is the main generator of the IMMF’s positions with respect to these processes as well as the person devising strategies for successful work with them, thanks to his previous work in the sustainable development area and years of experience of working with IGOs and UN member-states’ delegations.

In addition to his work with the IMMF, Nick is an active music manager, having started in music management in 1985.  He is a principal in Subversive Music Management.
