Paul Zimmerman - Head of Digital, Entertainment UK

Paul Zimmerman is the Head of Digital for Entertainment UK (E.UK) Limited, the UK’s largest wholesale distributor of home entertainment products and a division of the Woolworths group.

On arrival to E.UK in August 2003, Paul moved quickly to consolidate their position as one of the UK’s leading providers of digital music services. In November 2003, E.UK soft-launched a beta ‘a la carte’ digital distribution proposition via its sister company, Streets Online (www.streetsonline.co.uk). He currently sits on the Digital Download subcommittee of the Official Charts Company (OCC), and the British Association of Record Dealers (BARD).

Prior to joining E.UK, Paul was a senior manager of Amazon.co.uk, serving their music product group as General Manager from 2000. He joined Amazon in 1999 and was instrumental in the launch of their UK music business in October 1999. Whilst with Amazon, he sat on the BARD Council and BARD’s subcommittee for new technologies. His previous experience includes serving as sales manager of Lightning Export, the export wholesale distribution arm of Telstar Distribution, from 1996-1999, and country sales manager of Tower Records in Taiwan from 1993-1995.

Paul graduated from Dartmouth College (US) in 1991, majoring in history and studying amongst other things, music and technology. He spent four years at Dartmouth’s commercial college radio station, WFRD FM / WDCR AM, working in roles as varied as on-air disc jockey, technical producer and journalist.
