Peter Schultze - Radio Producer & Consultant
Peter studied composition and Tonmeister in Berlin. From 1970 – 1998 he was Jazz Editor at Radio Bremen, Germany during which time he produced more than 1600 radio concerts, many of which went on to be released as records, among them Keith Jarrett, Soft Machine, Peter Brötzmann, Philip Catherine and Iain Ballamy.
In 1975 Peter co-founded the Archive of Popular Music, a publicly accessible archive that holds around 100.000 records and a lot of literature on popular music. Since 1995 the whole database is on the Internet –http://www.kkarchiv.de.
From 1998 – 2001 he was Head of Music at Radio Bremen and Artistic Director of Pro Musica Antiqua, a biannual radio festival of ancient music.
He was also co-author of a radio series of 150 features on ‘The History of Popular Music’ much of which was released on Bear Family Records in 1998 as a 52-CD Box Set with a 320-page booklet.
From 2003 to 2007 Peter was Artistic Director of the Berlin JazzFest and was also co-founder of the German Jazz Meeting Association and since October 2005 he has been a member of the board of directors of EJN (Europe Jazz Network); from 2005 Peter has also been a consultant for jazzahead!
