Philip O'Ferrall - Vice President, Digital Media, MTV Networks
As Vice President, Digital Media, Philip O’Ferrall has responsibility for all MTV’s activity across online, interactive TV, mobile, video-on-demand, and emerging platforms. He also helps to create 360-degree TV commissions for new programming across the portfolio of MTV Networks UK & Ireland.
A senior television executive and new media pioneer, O’Ferrall has an enviable knowledge of broadcast, wireless and media industries, not to mention an entrepreneurial spirit. This has been evident in the rapid turn-around of digital activity on MTV shows such as ‘Totally Jodie Marsh’ and ‘Fist of Zen’, as well as the launch of ‘Spanking New Music Sessions’ on mtv.co.uk
Philip’s previous role was Executive Director at Twofour Group – one of the largest broadcast, communication and digital production companies in the UK. There, O’Ferrall was responsible for strategy and exploiting online, mobile and interactive across the entire Twofour Group output.
He also worked with brands to fund traditional and cross platform AFP campaigns, as well as building communities around content to retain audience whilst a show is off air.
Prior to that O’Ferrall launched the world’s first mobile video portal (Mobile Media Club) and the world’s first music video to a mass market mobile phone whilst at Nokia Ventures / Oplayo Mobile Video.
He also has experience of setting up a digital media agency that streamed television on the internet. During which time O’Ferrall fully immersed himself in the dotcom experience by helping to raise, and subsequently spend, $30m in 6 months.
Philip got his hands dirty in broadcast engineering at Pro-bel back in the day and now enjoys an active role at both the Royal Television Society and BAFTA.
