Richard Mollet - Director of Public Affairs, BPI

Richard MolletRichard joined the BPI as director of public affairs in April 2006.  He has responsibility for all of the BPI’s government, parliamentary and stakeholder relations in the UK and EU.  The BPI is the representative voice of the British recorded music industry with over 350 record companies in its membership including the four “majors” (EMI, SonyBMG, Universal and Warners).

His main work with the BPI has included engagement with the government on the Memorandum of Understanding to Reduce Unlawful Filesharing, the Gowers Review of IP, the Creative Economy Programme and developing anti-piracy strategies with the UKIPO.  He is one of two Vice-Chairs of the Alliance Against IP Theft.

Prior to joining the BPI Richard spent over ten years in political consultancy and media communications agencies.  Richard is a former Royal Naval Officer, and a graduate of Oxford University (Worcester College, PPE) and a visiting lecturer to the Hansard Society International Scholars Programme at LSE.
