TOPIC

Originally scheduled to coincide with the Licensing Act coming into force July/Aug ’04, the sixth-month dual licensing system will now come into play January ’05. This think tank seeks to clarify its implications amidst a wave of concern from the grass roots sector, and identify how musicians, venues and promoters can benefit most from it.

Since the passing of the Act in 2003, the Live Music Forum, Chaired by Feargal Sharkey, has been set up to maximise the take-up of reforms in the Act, evaluate its impact and promote the performance of live music generally.  Feargal will be delivering a keynote speech to attendees to explain the work being carried out by the Forum, including initial research seeking to map out the live music industry in the UK. This event provides an ideal opportunity to discuss the minutiae of the act , and its implications for the industry.
