The Big Music Project Live

11th October 2014 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

MusicTank is proud to announce its involvement in this worthwhile project.

Supported by The Big Lottery Fund, the consortium brings together the music industry, the BPI and its iconic BRITs brand, Global Radio and Capital FM – with the grassroots networks of UK Youth to connect with young people around the UK through their love of music.

Targeted at 14-24 year-olds, The Big Music Project aims to inspire young people and create real opportunities in order to gain experience, develop skills and enable all to find out more about all the possibilities that the music industry has to offer.

With comprehensive music industry involvement and a number of high profile artists including Plan B, Ellie Goulding, Example, Chase & Status and MNEK, The Big Music Project is working with UK Youth to bring inspiring music projects and opportunities to a community near you. MusicTank will be bringing an industry discussion panel to The Big Music Project Live events, in Glasgow (21 Sept), London (4th Oct) and Cardiff (11th Oct) – Music Matters – as part of a series of FREE day-long events which will be packed with live music, big name speakers, first class advice from industry experts, information on work opportunities in the local area, and the chance to find out how this project can make a difference in the local community.

It will also signpost music industry career paths and opportunities, and available education routes.

This session will consider the role of the record label – both past, present and future – and its place in an increasingly connected, digital world. With the traditional label model rapidly adapting to change in an era of low barriers to entry, direct-to-fan engagement and new distribution and consumption channels, what are the new digital platforms that have displaced some label functions and what does this mean for today’s developing and emerging artists?
