Stuart Galbraith - CEO, Kilimanjaro Live

Stuart started in live music when he attended Leeds University (1980-1984) where, as Social Secretary, he booked bands such as ZZ Top, U2, Simple Minds and The Clash.

He joined MCP in 1984 and became Director and Partner through to its sale in 1999 to Robert Sillerman’s SFX.  Whilst at MCP, Stuart promoted and worked with artists like Simply Red, Def  Leppard, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Metallica, U2, Simple Minds and AC/DC, as well as playing an instrumental role in the Monsters of Rock Festival at Donington Park.

Following the sale of MCP in 1999 to SFX, and the subsequent resale of SFX to Clear Channel and the creation of Live Nation in 2005, as Managing Director he helped grow Live Nation’s UK market share, promoting arena and stadium tours with many of the world’s biggest bands.  He was instrumental in the creation of the Download Festival, one of the UK’s premier rock festivals (which now also successfully operates in America), Wireless Festival and Hyde Park Calling Festival.

Stuart was also one of the organisers for the Live8 Concert, which played to 250,000 people in London’s Hyde Park in 2005, and the Live Earth Concert at Wembley Stadium in 2007.  Over the last several years, he has also promoted all the major concerts that have taken place in Hyde Park including Bon Jovi, REM, Queen, Shania Twain and the record breaking run by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, which played to 255,000 people.

Finally, he worked as advisor and promoter for Beijing 2008 and is currently working with LOCOG to optimise spectator capacity in key games venues.

Kilimanjaro focuses on two main areas of activity:

Stuart works as a consultant on Bloodstock, a metal festival in Derby, bringing his expertise to help the founding family take the event to the next level

In 2008, Kilimanjaro became majority partners in Wakestock, a popular wakeboarding and music festival in North Wales and also took it to Abu Dhabi this summer.

Last year, he also successfully launched his touring rock festival Sonisphere in 6 European territories and this year has taken it 700,000 people across  11 European countries, with the UK event taking place at the legendary rock venue, Knebworth Park.

Stuart continues to tour established stars & developing artists across a wide genre ranging from classical greats such as Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli to metal acts such as Metallica & Slipknot, bringing in 400 shows a year.
